Blueberry Dark-Flower is a perennial herb with a short stem having leaves ranging from 4 to 8; leaf-stalk measures 20 to 30 cm, slightly flattened; leaf blade is lanceshaped or elliptic, 16 to 23 cm by 2 to 4 cm, featuring 5 primary veins, and the tip gradually narrows. Flowering stem can grow up to 3 to 20 cm tall. The inflorescence is an upright spike, measuring 10 to 15 cm. Bracts are lanceshaped, ranging from 3 to 7 mm in length and are membranous. The flowers are grouped in clusters of 2 to 5, with a flower stalk that is 5 to 8 mm long. The bracteole, which is the part that covers the flower, is about 2 mm in size. The outer part of the flower, is purple and measures 6 to 8 mm in diameter. The flower-tube is 2 to 3 mm long, and it is mostly attached to the ovary. Tepals are oblong to ovate in shape, measuring 2.5 to 4 cm by 1.5 to 2 cm. The corona is about 0.5 mm wide. The anthers are about 0.5 mm in size. The style is short, and the stigma is head-like. Berries are about a centimeter, top-shaped, hairless, striking blue; seeds 1-3, spherical. Blueberry Dark-Flower is found in forests at altitudes of about 600 m, in Bangladesh, NE and SE India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China. Flowering: April-June.
